Overview: What's New and Why It Changed
The Hotsheet feature in connectMLS has been redesigned to improve long-term performance, align with newer tools, and reflect direct feedback from MRED subscribers like you.
You told us what you needed—more flexibility, better mapping, and a smoother experience—and this update delivers on those priorities. It’s one of the biggest changes we’ve made to the Hotsheet Search, and it sets the foundation for powerful new features coming soon, like texting listings, Live CMA, and more.
What’s new:
A refreshed layout to match the General Search in connectMLS
Faster system performance and better stability
Updated map tools, including school boundaries and Chicago neighborhood overlays, now available directly in the Hotsheet search
We know that change—especially to a tool you use every day—can take some adjustment. That’s why we’ve broken everything down step by step below to help you get reoriented fast.
How to Run a Hotsheet Search
To run a Hotsheet search:
Go to the Search menu and select Hotsheet.
Enter your criteria (area, property type, timeframe, etc.).
Choose one of the following:
"Hotsheet Report" – This view breaks down the results by status (New, Price Change, Back on Market, etc.) and groups them by property type. If you’re looking for the categorized view like before, this is the button you want.
"View Results" – This shows a standard list of matching properties, similar to a traditional search view. This view does not categorize results by status or type.
Once your results load, here’s how to view and interact with them:
Click anywhere on a listing row to open the property in your default report view, which will display in the middle of the screen.
Want the listing to open in a new window? Click the arrow icon in the top-right corner of the report panel.
This lets you preview listing details quickly while staying on the results page—or pop listings out for side-by-side comparisons when needed.
Tip: If you're only seeing a list of properties and not the breakdown by category, you likely clicked "View Results" instead of "Hotsheet Report."

How to Sort Results Your Way
With the updated Hotsheet, you’re in control of how your results are displayed. You can sort by what matters most to you and even multi-sort up to three criteria at once.
To sort your results:
Run your Hotsheet Search and load your results (either with View Results or Hotsheet Report).
At the top-right of the results, click the Sort icon (the downward arrow with bars to the right).
Choose the fields you want to sort by—up to three fields in your preferred order.
For example:
Sort first by Area,
Then by Price.
Your results will update immediately, letting you see the properties in the exact order you need.
Note: The default sort currently displays by price instead of city/area. This behavior has been reported and is being addressed in a future update.
How to Run a Hotsheet Search Since Last Ran
Previously, the “Since Last Run” option appeared as a checkbox on the Hotsheet Search page.
With the update, Since Last Run now appears as a choice in the Timeline dropdown.
If you do not see Since Last Run as an option, it means you haven’t run a Hotsheet search since the update. After you run one, the system will remember your last run and display the option in future searches.

Timeframe Options: More Flexibility, Same Hotsheet Power
The Timeframe field in the updated Hotsheet gives you more control over your search than ever before. In the previous version, you had to pick a date from the calendar or use a basic “days back” dropdown—and you were limited to just 14 days back.
Now? You can go back up to 30 days, all from one streamlined menu.
Here's what each option does:
Since Last Run – Returns only activity since the last time you personally ran a Hotsheet. (Appears after your first search in the new setup.)
Today – Only includes activity from today (midnight to now).
Time Range (Today) – Lets you filter for activity within a custom time window today.
24 Hours – Rolling window—activity from exactly 24 hours ago to now.
3 Days / 7 Days – Quick buttons for short-range catch-ups.
Days Back – Choose any number of days, up to 30, for a flexible window of time.
Date Range – Pick a specific start and end date using the calendar.

How to Save a Hotsheet Search
If you’d like to reuse the same Hotsheet criteria in the future, you can save your search:
Go to the "Search" menu and select "Hotsheet."
Enter your search criteria (area, property type, timeframe, etc.).
In the top-right corner of the page, click "Save Search."
Give your search a name and click Save.
Your saved Hotsheet will now appear under the "Saved Searches" tab on the Hotsheet page.
If your saved searches begin with HS_, that indicates they were created before the update. You can edit the search name to remove the “HS_” prefix if desired.

How to View the Hotsheet Report on a Phone
On mobile, the Hotsheet Report button does not appear on the main search screen. Instead, the initial results show a one-line summary view. To access the full Hotsheet Report layout that groups results by status and property type:
Run your Hotsheet Search on your phone.
From the results screen, tap the Grid icon at the top.
Select Multi Listings.
Tap Hotsheet Report to view the categorized report.
This will give you the full breakdown of activity, similar to what you see on desktop.
Where to Find Your Saved Hotsheet Searches
If you’ve previously saved Hotsheet searches, they are still available.
To access them:
Go to the Search menu and select Hotsheet.
Click the Saved Searches tab on the right side of the screen, under My Searches.
Look for your saved Hotsheet searches by name and click to run them.
